Signs and symptoms of an ACL injury usually include: A loud pop or a popping sensation in the knee. Severe pain and inability to continue activity. Rapid swelling. Loss of range of motion. A feeling of instability or giving way with weight bearing.
Symptoms of ACL Injuries Popping sound or sensation in the knee. Swelling and inflammation, usually occurring quickly after injury. Pain severity can vary depending on the extent of the injury. Reduced range of motion in the knee. Instability when placing weight on the affected leg. Inability to walk or continue activity.
It can be easy to confuse the two injuries, as both a torn ACL and a torn MCL exhibits similar symptoms, including: swelling, inflammation, extreme pain and possible bruising. The main difference between an ACL tear and an MCL tear is that an ACL tear will have a distinctive popping sound, while an MCL tear will not.
For instance: ACL tears are often associated with a popping sound, immediate swelling, and a feeling of instability. MCL tears commonly cause knee pain and tenderness along the inner side of the knee. Meniscus tears may produce a popping sensation, locking or catching of the knee, and difficulty straightening the leg.
In some cases, an ACL tear can appear similar to ACL degeneration, which is a more long-standing process. A partial tear of the ACL may also be misdiagnosed as a normal ACL since these injuries can be subtle in appearance. ACL tears are also often misdiagnosed as collateral ligament knee strains.
How to get Acl Tear Treatment under Insurance? Both, health and Mediclaim insurance policies cover the cost of Acl Tear Surgery. However, it is advised to choose an insurance policy that provides extensive benefits at an affordable price.
The most feared among them are undoubtedly ACL and MCL tears. Either injury could sideline an athlete for months or even worse an entire season. Both the ACL and MCL ligaments support knee stabilization, and if they are injured they can result in pain, swelling, and difficulty walking.
Some other things that could mimic an ACL injury could be a fracture (broken bone), dislocation, meniscus tear, cartilage injury, or another ligament injury. If this type of injury occurs, you should seek immediate medical attention for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
