The standard groff fonts TR for Times in roman style. TB for Times bold. TBI for Times in bold-italic style. TI for Times in italic style.
Groff (GNU troff) is a typesetting system that reads plain text mixed with formatting commands and produces formatted output. Output may be PostScript or PDF, html, or ASCII/UTF8 for display at the terminal. Formatting commands may be either low-level typesetting requests (primitives) or macros from a supplied set.
Use sans serif fonts, such as Arial and Comic Sans, as letters can appear less crowded. Alternatives include Verdana, Tahoma, Century Gothic, Trebuchet, Calibri, Open Sans. Font size should be 12-14 point or equivalent (e.g. 1-1.2em / 16-19 px). Some dyslexic readers may request a larger font.
troff (/ˈtiːrɒf/), short for typesetter roff, is the major component of a document processing system developed by Bell Labs for the Unix operating system. troff and the related nroff were both developed from the original roff.
groff (/ˈdʒiːrɒf/ JEE-roff) (also called GNU troff) is a typesetting system that creates formatted output when given plain text mixed with formatting commands. It is the GNU replacement for the troff and nroff text formatters, which were both developed from the original roff.
Calibri long the default typeface in programs like Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint had been dethroned after 17 years. And now a new font named Aptos was king. The change, announced in July, was first available to Microsoft Insiders.
Different applications and operating systems may have their own set of default fonts. However, some commonly used default fonts include Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, Helvetica, Verdana, and Tahoma.
