Photographers dont give RAWs because theyre unfinished products. Were far too proud of our work to put it out into the world without our finishing touches on it. Why photographers dont give RAW files - Apollo Ivy Photography Apollo Ivy Photography why-photographers-do Apollo Ivy Photography why-photographers-do
It can be rude to ask for unedited photos and let me explain why. Photographers shoot in a way that captures all of the details of a scene. Its sort of like a cook who gets a bunch of ingredients together to prepare a meal. They cook and use the ingredients to make their special meal that they are known for.
Providing the RAW files could undermine their efforts and potentially reflect poorly on their work if the client decides to edit the files themselves. Another reason why a photographer may not want to give their clients RAW files is that it could damage their professional reputation.
The fine tuned editing, the color correction, the skin retouching, those are all equivalent to preparing and cooking those raw ingredients. Simply put, you dont ask a professional photographer to give you their RAW photos because that would be giving you only half of an unfinished work of art.
The RAW file is the equivalent of a negative. RAW files preserve all of the original data from the imaging sensor of the camera, much like a negative, thus providing an unaltered original. As you might expect, the tradeoff for these detailed files is that RAW files are quite a bit larger than JPEG files. Still, most professional photographers shoot in RAW because it gives them more information to work with in the post-processing phase.

It generally creates a bit-of-bit copy of the raw data file. The advantage with the . dd raw format image files is that they contain unmodified data of the source, and nothing else. These files are not stored in any of the metadata like using software/hardware, destination and source details, hash values, etc.
RAW files preserve all of the original data from the imaging sensor of the camera, much like a negative, thus providing an unaltered original. RAW files themselves cannot be altered, which prevents not only inadvertent image manipulation but it also prevents intentional manipulation of forensic evidence.
RAW files contain uncompressed and unprocessed image data, allowing photographers to capture practically every detail they see in their viewfinder. The RAW file format stores the largest amount of detail out of any raster file type, which photographers can then edit, compress and convert into other formats.
