For Keeps contains the last recorded songs Pierce did before his death. Yet the band was unable to finish recording all of the songs before his death. From here, Too Close to Touch turned to metal and hardcore giants The Word Alive, Bad Omens and Cane Hill to help to finish bringing Pierces final songs to life.
An epitaph (from Ancient Greek ἐά (epitphios) a funeral oration; from ἐ- (epi-) at, over, and ά (tphos) tomb) is a short text honoring a deceased person. Strictly speaking, it refers to text that is inscribed on a tombstone or plaque, but it may also be used in a figurative sense.
Serving as the heart of the band was the cherished frontman, Keaton Pierce, whose unexpected passing in 2022 from complications related to acute pancreatitis left fans reeling. Following Pierces tragic loss, many never anticipated experiencing his voice and evocative lyrics again.
Kentucky based post-hardcore band Too Close to Touch have delivered us their third and final record with For Keeps. This marks their first release since their Im Hard to Love, But So Are You EPs from 2019 to 2020.
Epitaph Records is an American independent record label owned by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz.
noun. a commemorative inscription on a tomb or mortuary monument about the person buried at that site. a brief poem or other writing in praise of a deceased person.
Tragically, the band encountered a docHub setback following the passing of Pierce in 2022. However, in a commendable effort to preserve Pierces musical legacy, the band proceeded to release their final album titled For Keeps, on March 8, 2024, through Epitaph Records.
The groups decision to disband and release this album follows the passing of their vocalist Keaton Pierce back in early 2022. A mini-documentary focusing on this release and what went into, as well as the loss of Keaton, can be viewed below.
