Can you engrave over engraving?

It is true that you can sometimes buff out an engraving that isnt very deep and potentially engrave the item again, even over the same place. Unfortunately, plated metal doesnt work like this at all youll just buff the plating off and reveal the metal underneath the plating, essentially destroying the item.

Can you go over engraving?

If youre laser engraving glass, assuming it fractured the surface on the first pass, a second pass is likely to make it look worse. If youre using a CO2 laser to mark anodized aluminum, you can go over it again within reason, especially if part of the material was out of focus, like on a cup.

Can you buff out engraving on stainless steel?

Youll be relieved to know that yes it is possible to remove laser engraving from stainless steel and other metals including gold, platinum, sterling silver and softer metals such as nickel, brass, copper and aluminium.

Can you plate over engraving?

First, the jeweler has to polish off all of the existing plating and laser off the original engraving from the surface. Next, the jeweler re-plates the item and then engraves it as the final step.
