How to Patch Small Drywall Damage Fill dents and tiny holes with lightweight spackle using your finger or a putty knife. Make sure the spackle completely fills the dent or hole and is level with the rest of the undamaged wall. Allow the spackle to dry for 15 to 30 minutes or the time recommended by the manufacturer.
A wet cloth or rag The easiest way is to use a wet rag. Soak the rag (kitchen towel works best) in water and then simply place the clothe or rag over the indentation. Leave the wet rag in place for ten to fifteen minutes or so and you should, when you remove the rag, have no dent in the timber.
Methods for How to Fix Dents in Wood Place a wet cloth over the dented area. Use a clothes iron on a medium setting and gently press over the cloth for several seconds. The steam will cause the wood fibers to swell and fill the dent. This method is particularly effective for removing dents from wooden floors.
The easiest way to fill in the dents is with a premixed patching or glazing compound designed for steel doors. Its available at home centers and hardware stores. For a heavy-duty fix, use a two-part auto body filler. Its available at auto parts stores.
Dents in wood can often completely remove by steaming them out. Take a damp cloth and use the tip of a clothes iron and hold it on the dent lightly. Leg it steam for 1015 seconds. Repeat several time if necessary.
Wet a rag (terry washcloth works well) and wring it out well. Place it over the dent, and apply a hot steam iron. It can take a fair amount of time for the steam to raise the dent. You might need to sand the dent a bit to allow the steam to penetrate into the wood.
For minor gouges, rub a wax filler stick in the gouge. Check for manufacturer-recommended brands, and make sure you have the right color. Try wood putty in a color that matches your hardwood for deeper gouges. Epoxy glue can also fill small holes and gouges.
Step one Pour the boiling water over the dented area. This will soften the surface and make it more malleable. Step two Place the plunger over the dent, ensuring its fixed into an air-tight position and pull. Step three If the dent hasnt popped out of place try pushing it from behind, while wearing gloves.
