Symbols. Markdown doesnt provide special syntax for symbols. However, in most cases, you can copy and paste whatever symbol you want to use into your Markdown document. For example, if you need to display Pi (), just find the symbol on a webpage and copy and paste it into your document.
On Windows, press the Alt key followed by 0151 for an em dash or 0150 for an en dashbut you need a numeric keypad. On Linux, press your compose key followed by three hyphens for an em dash or two hyphens for an en dash. On Mac, press the Opt key followed by Shift + - for an em dash or just - for an en dash.
In Markdown, we enter -- for an en-dash () and --- for an em-dash (). These hypens render as expected in this Kirby forum: Here I enter three hyphens but you see an em-dash:
In Markdown, we enter -- for an en-dash () and --- for an em-dash ().
There are two ways to hide content: To hide Markdown, use the {toggle} directive. To hide or remove code cells or their outputs, use notebook cell tags.
In markdown, you can just drop in a and itll work perfectly fine. But, if you want to keep your markdown HTML-less, you can add a backslash \ after your line, like so! Like this \ and then this.
To display a literal character that would otherwise be used to format text in a Markdown document, add a backslash ( \ ) in front of the character. \* Without the backslash, this would be a bullet in an unordered list.
The way to escape a special character is to add a backslash before it, e.g., I do not want \italic text\ here . Similarly, if # does not indicate a section heading, you may write \# This is not a heading .
