What are the default credentials for AMI?

For a Debian AMI, the user name is admin. For a Fedora AMI, the user name is ec2-user or fedora. For a RHEL AMI, the user name is ec2-user or root. For a SUSE AMI, the user name is ec2-user or root.

What is not stored in an AMI?

Specifically, an AMI does not store instance settings such as the instance type, which determines the hardware of the host computer for your instance. It also does not store network settings like VPC configurations or security group details, as these are configured when you launch an instance from the AMI.

How do you ensure AMI is secure?

AMIs must not contain passwords, authentication keys, key pairs, security keys, or other credentials for any reason. AMIs must not request or use access or secret keys from users to access AWS resources.

What permissions options does an AMI have?

An AMI owner can determine their instance availability through the following three launch permissions: Public, that grants instance launch permission to all AWS account holders. Explicit, that grants launch permission only to specific AWS accounts. Implicit, where only the AMI owner has permission to launch an instance.

What does an AWS AMI contain?

Each AMI includes a template for the root volume required for a particular type of instance. A typical example might contain an operating system, an application server and applications.

What is the difference between EC2 and AMI?

The EC2 is used for creating the virtual server instance. The AMI is the EC2 virtual machines image. ECS provides container services such as docker and the AWS lambda is used to run the code without a server.

What are the various AMI design options?

AMI design options fall along a spectrum of deployment simplicity in relation to deployment flexibility. The simplest AMIs are fully baked and purpose-built to deploy a complete running instance, including the installation and configuration of all required software.

How to enable password authentication in AWS ec2 instances?
