An airlines reservation system automatically generates a unique record locator whenever a customer makes a reservation or booking, commonly known in the industry as an itinerary. When an itinerary is entered into the reservation system it is commonly known as a passenger name record (PNR).
The booking record (Passenger Name Record Locator - PNR) is a key under which the reservation for a trip is stored in the system. The PNR contains, among other data, the name, flight segments and address of the passenger. It is defined by a combination of five or six letters and numbers.
A PNR (passenger name record) is a unique identifier used by airlines to keep track of a passengers itinerary, while a booking reference number (also known as a flight confirmation number, e-ticket number, or ticket number) is a unique identifier used by airlines to identify a specific ticket or booking.
Airlines record information for each passenger who books or checks in for a flight, including the date the reservation was made, the passengers contact details and baggage information. This information is called the passenger name record (PNR).
What is a Passenger Name Record? A Passenger Name Record is a 10-digit number that is automatically generated when a customer books a train or plane ticket. The PNR is stored within a Computer Reservation System alongside a range of information about the passenger including the itinerary and other personal information.
PNR is the abbreviation of Passenger Name Record and it is a digital certificate allowing passengers to do online check-in or manage their bookings in a short time. Also used as booking number, Passenger Name Record is a code with 6 alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers are used together).
A Passenger Name Record (PNR) is a unique carrier reservation number for one or more flights. You can find your PNR on your e-ticket in the relevant segment of your itinerary. Each part of your trip and each passenger can have a different PNR.
The first 3 digits of your ticket number are the airline code, which is always 001 for American Airlines. When you book a trip on American, youll receive a unique 6-digit confirmation code made up of letters. Its also known as a record locator.
