so one of the things you know im really passionate about is gratitude and saying thank you ive recently got a thank you note that is worth doing a video for because when i teach writing thank you notes one of the things i always talk about is being specific calling out specifics that express your gratitude beyond just thank you for taking the time so this thank you note did exactly what i think a thank you note should do it was sent to me by somebody who participated in a program that i did recently and actually had participated many years before in the same program in a different event so i want to read to you what they wrote im not going to say who it was or what the context of the exact program was because thats not even whats important pay attention to how specifically this person calls out what was so meaningful to them dear leda i appreciate that you included me in your recent branding class i remember how valuable i found this information at this other event when i attended

The ideal note is brief and to the point. Start by thanking the person, with specificity, for their gift or kind act. Write about how you plan to use their gift or how their actions made you feel. And then reiterate your thanks and mention the next time youll see the person.
So how you write the term thank you depends on how you want to use it, to summarise: As a verb phrase or in formal writing, always use two words, such as thank you for your card. As a noun or an adjective, it can be written as two words, as a single word, or using a hyphen.
So whats the rule? Never hyphenate this word. Its either Thank you or Thankyou. And most of the time, thank you is the correct choice.
Thank you for pointing out my mistake Oh, yes you are right. I have made a mistake in there. Thanks for the informing it to me. Thanks for setting me straight. Thank you for clarifying that for me. My bad thanks for letting me know. Thank you for providing me with the correct information.
But if we spell it incorrectly, we can distract readers and potentially detract from the words kind message. So whats the rule? Never hyphenate this word. Its either Thank you or Thankyou.
Thank You as Two Words As a verb phrase, thank you is always two words. Or to put it another way, you should always use two words for the act of thanking someone: Thank you for walking my dog. We can also use this term as a noun (i.e., something given as thanks):
A: It would appear so. But remember, just as important is knowing that its always two words when you say thank you to thank someone. Its only when we get to the noun and adjectives where opinion is divided between thankyou and thank-you.
The best way to express gratitude in emails and letters is to use a sincere and genuine tone. Start by addressing the recipient by name and then clearly state what you are thankful for. Be specific and mention how their actions or words have impacted you.
