There are two main ways in which business records can be kept: manual record keeping and computerized (or automated) record keeping. Read on to learn how these systems work and the pros and cons of each.
A record is considered anything papers, memos, presentations, reports, books, maps, e-mails, photographs, or documentary materials that documents past, present and future business and operations. In this lesson you learned why records management is important.
Types of Records I. Administrative Records. Records which pertain to the origin, development, activities, and accomplishments of the agency. II. Legal Records. III. Fiscal Records. IV. Historical Records. V. Research Records. VI. Electronic Records.
However, we can make some kind of classification of recording as Process recording, Summary recording, Verbatim recording, and Non- Verbatim recording.
Examples of records include financial records, medical records, legal records, and personnel records. Generally speaking, records can be categorized into two types: active records and inactive records.
Authenticity means that content, context, and structure persist. Reliability stresses that the records are trustworthy. Integrity means that the records are complete and unchanged. Usable means that records can be located, retrieved, presented, and interpreted.
Archives are those records which have been selected for permanent preservation because of their administrative, informational, legal and historical value as evidence of official business of the UN.
There are four types of records: official records, transitory records, non-records, and personal records. Some records are kept for a short amount of time, and some records have long retention periods. Retention periods for records are approved by Retention and Disposal Schedules.
