- Today Im gonna talk about how to get the best out of your JPEG images. (gentle piano music) Hi there, Im Peter Forsgard. An Olympus Visionary and professional photographer from Helsinki, Finland. And before we start talking about the JPEG images, please consider subscribing to my channel, and hit that bell so you get notified (bell dings) when there is a new video online. Remember, I post two videos a week, usually on Tuesdays and on Fridays. And my channel is all about you getting to be a better photographer, and of course, about Olympus gear. But lets start talk about JPEGs. I mostly use RAW, but there might be some cases or some scenarios where you could use JPEG for example. Lets say that you dont want to do anything in post, then JPEG is just fine for you. And of course, then if you want to share your images online immediately from your camera, then JPEG is also a very good option. But as I said, if you want to do post-processing and the image sharing is not that important

As a general benchmark: 90% JPEG quality gives a very high-quality image while gaining a docHub reduction on the original 100% file size. 80% JPEG quality gives a greater file size reduction with almost no loss in quality.
Set the image quality to RAW. First things first, I want you to go into your cameras menu and switch your image quality setting from JPEG to RAW (yes, really!). Shooting in RAW is absolutely essential for any photographer who wants to capture the highest quality images in camera while theyre being captured.
When an image is captured in a digital camera, it is recorded as raw data. If the camera format is set to JPEG, this raw data is processed and compressed before it is saved in the JPEG format. If the camera format is set to raw, no processing is applied, and therefore the file stores more tonal and color data.
My baseline recommendation is to use 77% in Lightroom, or value 10 for JPEG compression in Photoshop. It often results in roughly 200% or more in space savings and usually preserves enough detail in the scene without adding visible artifacts.
JPEG (/ˈdʒeɪpɛɡ/ JAY-peg) is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly for those images produced by digital photography. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality.
Go to File Save as and open the Save as type drop-down menu. You can then select JPEG and PNG, as well as TIFF, GIF, HEIC, and multiple bitmap formats. Save the file to your computer and it will convert.
Best Methods to fix error Unable to open JPEG file Update to the latest Photo Viewer or Photos App. Use Stellar Repair for Photo. Go back to the older version of the Photo Viewer. Rename your JPEG file. Open JPEG photo in Paint. Open JPEG photos in an Image Editor. Perform Clean Boot on your PC.
Give it a try using one of the dozens of supported file formats, including DNG, JPG, TIFF, and PNG. Open your image in Lightroom. Choose Photo Enhance. Select Super Resolution. Click Enhance. Lightroom will increase your image resolution and save it as a new DNG file.
