hey guys welcome back this is professor hank and in this video im going to show you how to create records using structures okay and um lets get started so three quick points and then well get to the coding part the first thing is you know you can have records right whats record record is just a logical collection of data right um student information customer information you know course information you know whatever and those records are going to have fields right student name phone number uh address etc okay so you can combine all that information put them into a struct and then from there you know as long as theyre the same size right because they are going to be fixed in length because we defined them in in a struct then we can store them into a file okay and what well do is well use the size of operator to figure out what the length of the record is how many bytes its going to take up and then well use that information as part of our reading and writing process to files ok

Follow these steps to search the record in the binary file: Open the file in reading mode using “rb” Prompt a message to ask unique field from data to search. Declare a boolean variable flag to store False for the record not found and True when the record found. Use a while loop to access records individually.
File extensions We can usually tell if a file is binary or text based on its file extension. This is because by convention the extension reflects the file format, and it is ultimately the file format that dictates whether the file data is binary or text.
PNG images use a binary format because efficiency is important in creating small image files. However, PNG does binary formats right: it specifies byte orders and word lengths to avoid the NUXI problem. There are often business reasons to use binary formats.
To search for a sequence of bytes, rather than a text string, select the “binary data” search type. You can then enter the bytes into the search box as you would enter them into a hex editor. PowerGREP's regular expression support works equally well with binary files as with text files.
Binary files are regular files that contain information readable by the computer. Binary files might be executable files that instruct the system to accomplish a job. Commands and programs are stored in executable, binary files. Special compiling programs translate ASCII text into binary code.
In fopen (), the mode that appends (a) to a binary (b) file is ab. " ab" is "append; open or create binary file for writing at end-of-file".
A binary file is a file whose content is in a binary format consisting of a series of sequential bytes, each of which is eight bits in length. The content must be interpreted by a program or a hardware processor that understands in advance exactly how that content is formatted and how to read the data.
You can choose one of two methods for loading the data. 1) Use the commands open file, read from file and close file. 2) Use the URL keyword with the put command, prefixing the file path with "binfile:". Either approach allows you to place binary data into a variable so that it can be processed.
The BinaryReader class is used to read binary data from a file. A BinaryReader object is created by passing a FileStream object to its constructor.
You can use Notepad++ the plugin for hex editor. Once you have that, all you need to do is some kind of combination and permutation, depending upon what kind of data is held in you binary file (also while doing it keep in mind the byte order little or big endian).
