The photo pass is a printed credential that identifies you to security and venue staff as being approved to photograph a band for most all medium to large concerts. It might take the form of a wristband, a fabric sticker, or a laminated card.
If you are tall, stand towards the back so that people who are smaller are not obstructed. Dont stand on top of other people trying to edge them out of where they are standing in order to get your shot and make them miss theirs. Try not to get incredibly close to the stage or everyone will have you in their shot.
You are more than welcome to take pictures/videos before and after a show and during intermission. All phones must be turned off or silenced (no vibration) during the show. You wont need your phone anyway because you should not text, email, snap chat or use any social/interactive media during the show.
Aperture priority mode is the most important mode on your camera if you want to take control of things while avoiding going mad tweaking the settings for each shot. With this option, your camera chooses the shutter speed and you select the aperture and exposure compensation.
When taking a photo at a gig, it is recommended to be on the Manual mode. This allows the photographer to have full control over the camera settings, such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.
Best camera settings for concert photos. Set a low aperture, around f/1.8 or f/3.5 (or as low as your lens can go) Choose a fast shutter speed, around 1/100th and 1/200th (if not faster) Place the ISO between 1600 and 3200 (or higher if necessary) Use the auto white balance feature. Turn on continuous autofocus.
Summary for indoor event photography camera settings Fast lens, wide aperture e.g. 50mm f1. Shutter speeds from 1/50 to 1/250 sec. Try with ISO 800-1600. Use manual mode for aperture. Wait for the right moment to shoot. Use a speed light / flash if allowed. Use a mono pod for static subjects.
Single Autofocus Mode (AF-S/One-shot AF): Using this mode, the camera locks the focus on the subject but if it moves, the camera wont adjust focus to compensate. Its the best setting mode for still subjects (and one of the best camera settings for landscape photography).
