Your credit reports are updated when lenders provide new information to the nationwide credit reporting agencies for your accounts. This usually happens once a month, or at least every 45 days.
If you identify an error on your credit report, you should start by disputing that information with the credit reporting company (Experian, Equifax, and/or Transunion). You should explain in writing what you think is wrong, why, and include copies of documents that support your dispute.
TransUnion: If you would like to change your number directly with the agency, submit legal proof of the change (e.g., Social Security card or a letter from the Social Security Administration) to TransUnion at P.O. Box 2000, Chester, PA 19016.
To update the personal information listed on your credit report, simply update the your records with your lenders through your online account portal or by calling customer service. When the lenders report to the major credit bureaus, typically once a month, your personal information will also update.
You dont need to contact the credit bureaus to update the personal information on your credit reports. Instead, get in touch with your creditors and ask them to update your records with your new address, name or employer.
Dispute the information with the credit reporting company Contact information for you including complete name, address, and telephone number. Report confirmation number, if available. Clearly identify each mistake, such as an account number for any account you may be disputing. Explain why you are disputing the information.
To update the employment on your credit report, simply update the employment on your loan or credit card accounts, through your online account portal or by calling customer service. When your lenders report to the credit bureaus, your personal information including your employment will also update.
