hello on this video im going to address two um formatting things for google docs that come up for me and for my students and colleagues all the time the first is how do i fix those indents if theyre not there and the second is why is there a random extra space between my paragraphs so and i dont know why that shows up sometimes but i do know how to fix it so first were going to look at the indents indent so um and as with all things googly um theres usually more than one way to fix the thing im just going to show you one way so these little markers here they are um theyre showing you where the text is gonna is kind of the fi the far margin thats this bottom arrow and then the top thing is showing you where the first line indent is if you hover you might even be able to see that it says that so if this is a factor for my entire document im going to highlight all the text if you know your keyboard commands on a mac you would hit command a on a pc youre going to hit control a b

Format paragraphs On your Android phone or tablet, open a document in the Google Docs app. Double-tap the place in your document you want to edit. tap Paragraph. Next to "Line spacing," use the arrows to choose the amount of space you want between the lines in the paragraph.
To format paragraph spacing: Select the text you want to format. Click the Line spacing button. Select Add space before paragraph or Add space after paragraph from the drop-down menu. You can also click Custom spacing to fine-tune the spacing. The paragraph spacing will adjust in the document.
Reset Paragraph Styles Here's how to do it. Step 1: In the Google Docs document, click on the Format option and select Paragraph styles. Step 2: Under Paragraph styles, go to Options and choose Reset styles.
On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. Select the paragraph you want to change. Click Format Paragraph styles. Borders and shading. In the window that opens, change how you want your paragraph to look. To remove paragraph borders or color, click Reset. When you are done, click Apply.
Click the “Format” option in the top menu. Go down to “Align & indent” and select “Indentation options.” Open the “Special indent” drop-down menu and select “Hanging.” Adjust the depth of the indent as needed. The standard depth is 0.5 inches (1.27cm).
Line and paragraph spacing Select the text you want to format. Click the Line spacing button, then select the desired line spacing option from the drop-down menu. You can also click Custom spacing to fine-tune the spacing. The line spacing will adjust in the document.
In the toolbar at the top of your document, select Tools. Then, hover over Spelling and grammar to see the sub-menu of options. Select Spelling and grammar check to run a quick check of your document. After Google Docs completes the check, a window will appear that showcases changes that should be made.
On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. Select the paragraph you want to change. Click Format Paragraph styles. Borders and shading. In the window that opens, change how you want your paragraph to look. To remove paragraph borders or color, click Reset. When you are done, click Apply.
The easiest fix to the Google Docs formatting issue is to disable your ad blocker. But if you don't want to disable your ad blocker, you can whitelist Google Docs instead. You will find the option to whitelist specific websites from the extension's settings.
