Thats because theres been a long debate about whose name is first on the wedding invite. Traditionally, its the brides first and middle name followed by the grooms full name. The brides name is usually first because the brides parents are typically the hosts and, thus, the ones paying for the event.
RSVP is an initialism of the French phrase, rpondez sil vous plat. this directly translates to Respond, if you please. The initialism is often used to confirm attendance for an event, such as a wedding, birthday party or baby shower.
Though it is traditionally considered more correct to include the apostrophe in the forms that end with -s or -ing, it is increasingly common to omit it, especially (though not exclusively) in American English. Forms that end with -d or -ed typically retain the apostrophe.
Respondez sil vous plait may be written as R.s.v.p. with a capital R and a lowercase s.v.p. The other form is R.S.V.P. in capital letters. The preferred form, and the one I use, is R.s.v.p. It is what Mummy taught me. The favour of reply is requested is another proper acknowledgment request.
How to Respond to an RSVP Request with Confidence Check Whether an RSVP Is Required. Determine the Best Method to RSVP. Match the Formality of the Invitation. Include Your Name(s) and Number of Guests. Confirm Your Attendance. Answer Any Questions on the Invite. Reply By the Requested Date. Update the Host If Your Plans Change.
Include full names. If attending, write the titles and full names of all invited guests next to the M on the response card. Dont forget to include the full name of your plus one so that the host can get a proper head count and create a personal name card for your guest.
Things to Keep in Mind for All RSVPs Include your full name(s) Include your response (Attending or Not Attending) Include the total number of guests attending. If entree selection is requested, place the initials of the guest next to each meal selection.
