Hi everyone, Steve Patterson here from Photoshop Essentials. Photoshop makes it easy to flip or rotate an entire word, but not the individual letters. So in this video, I show you the trick that lets you flip or rotate any letter you like. Im using Photoshop 2022 but any version will work. And Ive gone ahead and added some text to my document. The font Im using is Degular which I downloaded from docHub Fonts. Right now my text is actual type. And we know that because in the Layers panel, the text is sitting on a type layer, indicated by the letter T in its thumbnail. Ive also added a drop shadow just to help the text stand out. Now there are some things we can do to a single letter when our text is still type. And Ill show you what I mean by still type in a moment. With the Type Tool active in the toolbar, we can click and drag across a letter to highlight it. Then we could change its color by clicking the color swatch in the Options Bar and choosing a new color from the Color P

The simple answer is that by default, Photoshop locks text layers to prevent accidental changes. However, you can unlock a text layer by clicking on the Lock icon in the Layers panel. Once unlocked, you can then edit the text just like any other layer.

Note: Youll need the latest version of Photoshop to use this feature. Type your text. Press T, or select the Horizontal Type tool in the Tools panel. Find a variable font and use it as a starting point. Edit the font style preset. Fine-tune your type. Save your custom font style.
