Your figures must be appropriately titled. All graphs, diagrams and images should be titled as Figures. These will be numbered consecutively throughout the dissertation: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and so on. After the numbering, there should be a short and concise title.
Figures should be labeled with a number followed by a descriptive caption or title. Captions should be concise but comprehensive. They should describe the data shown, draw attention to important features contained within the figure, and may sometimes also include interpretations of the data.
If you can, use a soft lead pencil to write informationincluding whos in a photo, the date it was taken, the occasion, and where it was takenon the back of a photograph (where the information will never become separated from the image). Soft lead is important because hard lead pencils will leave an indentation.
Begin with a general overview of what the picture is or portrays, focusing first on an overview before providing details. Following the overview, various portions of the picture can be detailed, in some type of orderly fashion. One tactic is to explain the foreground, mid-ground, and background.
Formatting Images in Your APA Style Research Paper Center the image in the center of your page. Create a figure number in bold type. Create a title for the image below the figure number in italics. Insert your image below the image title. Include a note below the image when necessary.
Label and number the figure on a line under the image itself, using either Figure or Fig. Capitalize the F in this case, but not when referring to your figure in the body text. Give it a descriptive title following the label and number, and then without punctuation write from and include Works Cited entry.
Visual elements are referred to as either Tables or Figures. Tables are made up of rows and columns and the cells usually have numbers in them (but may also have words or images). Figures refer to any visual elementsgraphs, charts, diagrams, photos, etc.
Include information in the following order: author (if available) year produced (if available) title of image (or a description) Format and any details (if applicable) name and place of the sponsor of the source. accessed day month year (the date you viewed/ downloaded the image)
