An APA running head can be up to 50 characters (including spaces) and is written in all capital letters. Its left-aligned and appears on all pages, including the title page. Its not necessary to put the label Running head in front of the title (as was the case in APA 6).
In APA 7, all heading levels use title case. (Note that APA 6 recommended sentence case for Levels 3, 4, and 5.) In title case, the first letters of words with four or more letters are capitalized, while all other letters are left lowercase.
Use the APA Manual,6th Edition, as your authoritative guide. 4) Page Headings (p. 229-230) The title page includes five elements: title, running head, author byline, institutional affiliation, and author note.
APA 7 standard for students does not require a running head. However, your professor may choose to require one. If a running head is required, type the TITLE OF PAPER in all caps in the header, top left of the page.
Heading level 1 is used for main sections like Methods, Results, and Discussion. There is no Introduction heading at the beginning of your paper because the first paragraphs are understood to be introductory. Heading level 2 is used for subsections under level 1.
A running head, also called a page header, is a line at the top of each page of a document that gives the reader important information. For APA format, the running head includes a shortened version (no more than 50 characters) of the title of the document IN CAPITAL LETTERS, as well as the page number.
