hello everybody just a quick tip here if you want to play around with any emails youve received so Ive got an email newsletter here from the verge very lovely what Im gonna do is Im gonna try to get hold of the HTML so that I can play with it see how it works what fonts they using a web type of thing so what youll do is you go to show original on the email find the source of the email youll have the equivalent this in every email client but in Gmail its here and were gonna scroll down past all the email headers and were going to pass the plain text section we dont want that and we want the HTML which you can see starts here but you can see its got these weird kind of things in it and spaces are escaped and all sorts of odd things are going on and thats because its in coded as quoted-printable which is just a way of sending text things aint bit text in your a certain bit medium so Im going to do is Im gonna copy and paste this stuff yeah Ill go copy and were going to

As it turns out, there are a few reasons why you may be getting plain text emails: Some mobile email clients still do not support HTML emails. Various mechanisms used by websites (e.g. contact forms) tend to use the plain text format.
Why is my email strangely formatted, with lines of code? It usually means because you are trying to open your email with another email client than the web version of Gmail, such as Apple Mail, Outlook or Google Inbox. Or it can also happen because you copied/pasted your email from another tool like Word or Google Docs.
How to change message format from plain text to HTML in Outlook? Open your Outlook and click the File button top left corner. Choose Options > Mail. Under Compose messages, in the Compose messages in this format list, choose HTML and hit OK to save the changes.
