Comma rules for greetings When it comes to greetings and commas, there is one general rule that you should follow: place the comma after the greeting but before a persons name. Regardless of what your greeting is, this rule will usually guide you to success.
Invitations: Date should be spelled out. Date should be preceded by the day of the week, spelled out. Day of the week and date should be separated by a comma. Year is printed on a separate line and may be omitted, if desired. Month and year should not be separated by a comma. EX: on Saturday, the fifth of June.
Wedding invitations do not require punctuation at the end of a line; however, commas should still be used within lines to separate the day of the week from the day of the month. In addresses, commas should still be used to separate the city from the state.
Punctuation: An Invitation is like a Poem The traditional style is to leave out almost all punctuation, except for a comma between a city and a state and between the day of the week and the date of the month.
Reception line If the reception will be at the same location as the ceremony, you can simply say, Reception to follow or Dinner and dancing to follow.
All wedding invitations should include the following elements: Whos hosting. The request to come to the wedding. The names of the couple. The date and time. The location. Reception information. Dress code. Separate RSVP card.
Married Couples: Formal Traditionally for married couples, you include the males first and last name (i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Arendt). Its likely the most familiar and the most common way to address envelopes.
2. Punctuation: Invitations use line breaks or blank space between paragraphs to act as punctuation and periods are never used. Exception is when using a poem, quote or saying. Be sure to go lightly with the commas, exclamation points and when in doubt, leave it out.
