Failing to do so can result in penalties or fines that can harm your business. State the purpose of the letter and address consent in the opening paragraph. For example, you might say, I am requesting a letter for employment verification. Follow this with a sentence about your consent to provide this information (and if applicable, reference the attached completed verification form).
Information that can be provided includes: Dates of employment, Title (job classification), Employment history (all position, dates and salary since date of hire), Gross salary for the past two years, Year to date salary, and. Annual salary.
Employers that receive verification of employment requests from state or federal government agencies are generally required to respond to them. They do not have to respond to requests from collection agencies and others, however.
Follow E-Verify procedures for each employee for whom an E-Verify case is created. Notify prospective employees and all employees, including those hired to work in a remote setting of E-Verify participation by clearly displaying the Notice of E-Verify Participation and the Right to Work posters in English and Spanish.
