Whats the difference between AFP and PDF? While PDF has its origins in the graphic arts and ubiquitous desktop viewing, the emphasis for AFP is very high speed variable data printing.
IBM AFP fonts are comprised of two or three components. contains the actual bitmaps/glyphs of the font. Each character in the font is referenced by what is known as the GCID (Global Character Identifier). These are IBM standard names for the characters in the font.
