so Ill be presenting this work that we did at Columbia and as you might have guessed Ill be talking about texture synthesis and more specifically example-based texture synthesis where were given as input a simple example image or Exemplar we seek to generate outputs having similar characteristics or features now hi as youve heard this sort of Im the technical the sort of research has been around since around 1995 so weve gotten fairly good at synthesizing images such as this one which has a similar appearance everywhere in space and also a fixed feature size however there are a class of textures that have not been as well studied so far in this context as an example of one of these Ill show you this texture here and when when we view it at this resolution we see grassy and Rocky features and so far this looks like something we could generate using an existing method however if we zoom out a bit we see that if we zoom out a bit we see that in fact this is part of a larger textur
