Treat the stain with stain remover or a bit of liquid heavy-duty laundry detergent, working it into the fibers with a soft-bristled brush. Set aside for 15 minutes and then wash as usual in cool water.
Dilute one part white distilled vinegar with one part water. In a bowl, mix 12 c (120 mL) of white vinegar with 12 c (120 mL) of water. Most other types of vinegar can stain paper, so be sure the vinegar you use is completely clear. White vinegar can remove other pigmented stains like ink, grass, or mustard.
How to Remove Water-Based Stains From Books Dampen the stained area with a few drops of water. Use a damp microfiber cloth with a drop of dish soap to scrub the stained area gently. Wipe off the soapy residue and extra moisture with a clean, damp cloth. Use rubbing alcohol and a paper towel for more stubborn stains.
Warm up an iron on low heat and place it on top of the paper for 5 seconds. Make sure it is covering the oil spot. Remove the iron after 5 seconds and check the oil stain, it will be lighter or possibly completely gone. Repeat the process as needed to continue to lift the stain.
Make a mixture of water and white vinegar in a ratio of 3:1. Mix it in a bowl large enough to submerge the stain on the paper. Soak the stained paper in the vinegar solution for a few seconds. Remove the paper, and allow it to dry on a clean towel.
Damp cloth: If the dirt stain is stubborn and cannot be brushed away, a damp cotton swab or microfiber cloth works pretty well. Hold the print vertically and rub the blemish gently. Wipe off the moisture with a dry cloth and place the artwork in direct sunlight for quick drying.
DIY Stain Removal Solutions White Vinegar: A versatile solution, white vinegar can be mixed with water to tackle stains on various fabric types. Baking Soda: For odorous stains, baking soda is a powerful deodoriser.
However, if you have no idea if the stain on your deck was water-based or oil-based, you will need to perform a quick test. Water-based stains need to be stripped off before you apply a new finish, while oil-based stains can be recoated after you use a deck cleaner.
