Then were going to look at the features of the executive summary, followed by a review of a sample executive summary. So, lets get started with this first question: What is an executive summary? Well, you can tell from the word summary that it is a shorter version of a longer document. But in this case, its a much shorter version. OK, lets take a look. Lets look first at its special features. One, its audience: The executive summary is directed at executives: the top-level managers with decision-making powers. Two, its purpose: Executives use the summary to decide whether or not to move forward on the proposal. The summary is a substitute for the actual proposal. Three, its structure:
