thanks Marty hi everyone Im Emily Im a data scientist at Microsoft and I also lead the procedure project which Ill describe in a moment but first lets start with a story about how the NSA identified Satoshi Nakamoto anyone here doesnt know who Satoshi Nakamoto is okay hes the guy who invented Bitcoin hes also one of the worlds most rich people and hes anonymous nobody knows who is so how did the NSA identify him they used telemetry telemetry is the way of comparing writing styles of different authors and they compared his writing style because he published blog posts and and things like that where the trillions of other writing samples more technically they use terms frequencies features principal components analysis to reduce dimensionality and come up with a distance metric between satoshis writings and others they are the NSA they have access to literally every piece of data like Googles face books and Amazons data centers so coming up with candidates wasnt really a prob

Is it safe to send PII via email? No, you should never send PII over email. However, if you must send PII over email, it needs to be encrypted and certain security protocols must be met to ensure that if its intercepted, the PII wont be readable.
As a general rule, its best not to save or share PII unless you have a valid reason to do so. But if its a necessary component to running your business successfully, here are a few tools you can use to ensure youre handling PII securely.
