Jason warns that excitement to see favorite artists can lead to ticket scams. He recounts losing $750 to a phone scam while awaiting tickets for a Keith Sweat and New Edition concert. After buying tickets on a legitimate third-party site, he grew worried when the ticket information didn’t transfer to his Ticketmaster account right away. Unbeknownst to him, tickets only sync 24 hours before the event. In his confusion, he searched for a Ticketmaster phone number and was misled by scammers posing as representatives, who convinced him to send $750 in gift cards to secure his tickets. Jason has since filed a police report for deceptive practices.

With ticket scanning, you print off your ticket or save a PDF of your ticket onto your mobile device. Then, you show an employee the barcode, who then quickly scans it and sends you on your way. Voila!
People Can Replicate Them All people have to do is see a photo of either a ticket stub or a pass to replicate them, and this can lead to a variety of issues. Firstly, if a person creates a version of your ticket but successfully reproduces the barcode, they could potentially bypass the scanner at the venue.
Ticket barcodes, QR codes, and other unique identifiers are often visible in these photos, and scammers can use them to create counterfeit passes.
We recommend you download the Ticketmaster app and add mobile tickets to your digital wallet before you get to the theatre. You wont be able to use screenshots of tickets to get into the performance, so please transfer any additional tickets prior to arrival.
No. Your mobile ticket includes leading-edge technology with fraud protection, so you wont be able to use screenshots or print-outs. You just show it on entry.
Some venues require that the tickets are printed before arrival, while others may require the tickets to be shown from a mobile device.
Can I use a screenshot of my ticket to enter an event? No.
Once a ticket is scanned, it becomes void. So if your ticket is replicated and the person with the copy gets to the venue before you, you wont be able to get into the show because your barcode will already have been scanned into the system. Thus, they got into the venue for free, and you lost your money.
