Applying for registration with the U.S. Copyright Office requires an application, a filing fee, and a copy of the work (which the Office calls a deposit). Depending on whether your work has been published, there are several different online application options.
When using images online especially for commercial/marketing purposes you should always: Obtain proper licenses or permissions where required. Respect any terms of use associated with said images. Be careful when making fair use determinations. When in doubt, seek permission directly from the copyright owner.
If the photographer has posted the image and you share direct, then technically there shouldnt be an issue here (as long as you SHARE the image, you dont screenshot or save the image and then post as your own).
If the photographs were created as works made for hire, the employer or commissioning party is considered the author and owns the copyright to the images rather than the photographer.
ing to federal law, images produced by a professional photographer are copyrighted the moment they are created. Federal law prohibits copying or reproducing copyrighted material without permission from the owner of the copyright, i.e., the photographer.
Dont copy their work in any manner. Just like you wouldnt walk into a big department store and take more items than you paid for, dont do it to a small business owner either.
The copyright of the photographs subject to this Contract is always retained by the Photographer. Sale, publication, or any other commercial use is strictly prohibited without the prior written consent of the Photographer.
Printed photos can be scanned using a computer scanner and then printed using a colour photo printer. You will need a high-resolution scanner, photographic paper and a quality printer in order to print the highest quality duplicates of your original photo.
