A retention policy is used to assign retention settings at a container (site or mailbox) level whereas a retention label is used to assign retention settings at an item (folder, email, or document) level.
Messaging Records Management or MRM is a feature of Exchange Online that allows administrators to manage the email lifecycle of their organization and implement effective retention strategies.
Unlike retention labels, which are published to locations such as all Exchange mailboxes, sensitivity labels are published to users or groups. Apps that support sensitivity labels can then display them to those users and groups as applied labels, or as labels that they can apply.
MRM in Exchange Server Retention tags are used to apply retention settings to an entire mailbox and default mailbox folders such as Inbox and Deleted Items. You can also create and deploy retention tags that Outlook 2010 and later and Outlook on the web users can use to apply to folders or individual messages.
Typically, youll use retention labels to retain specific items longer than an applied retention policy, but they can also be used to override automatic deletion at the end of the retention period, or apply a different deletion period.
To select and copy some of report content: Use the cursor to drag a selection box around the fields that you want to select. Release the left-hand mouse key. The selected fields are highlighted. Select the Copy button in the Crystal Reports Viewer.
Retention tags allow users to tag their own mailbox folders and individual items for retention. Users no longer have to file items in managed folders provisioned by an administrator based on message retention requirements.
An administrator can either use one of these methods or combine both. A retention policy is used to assign retention settings at a container (site or mailbox) level whereas a retention label is used to assign retention settings at an item (folder, email, or document) level.
Double click on the user mailbox and select Manage mailbox policies. Under Retention policy, select [No policy] instead of Default MRM Policy.
Retention tags are classified into the following three types based on who can apply them and where in a mailbox they can be applied. Default policy tags Applied automatically to entire mailbox. Retention policy tag Applies automatically to a default folder. Personal tag Manually to items and folders.
