Were going to start with the absolute basics of how you even just get a page number onto every single page in Word. Then well look at some more advanced topics like how you start your page numbers from a specific page. To follow along, Ive included a sample document down below in the description. Lets check this out. Here I am in Microsoft Word, and I want to add page numbers to this document. To insert page numbers, up on the top tabs, lets click on the insert option. Over on the right-hand side, lets click on page number and here we see several different options. We can insert a page number at the top of the page and here we can left align it, center align it, or right align it, and if I scroll down, we see a number of different options. You are probably using two Page Styles, probably Left Page and Right Page. You need to enable the Header (and/or Footer) on each master style, then /Insert /Field /Page Numbers on one example on each page style.
If you want continuous pagination that is all in the same format, go to the Insert Ribbon, and in the Header Footer Group, click on the Page Number icon. Choose the appropriate placement of the number and a style.
