Outlines provide a brief frame or overview of ideas in a text. They show the relationships among those ideas, as similar ideas are on similar levels. At a glance, outlines allow you to see if all major supporting ideas relate to the overall main idea.
CONVERTING FONTS TO OUTLINES IN A PDF FILE Open your PDF file in Acrobat Pro Open the Print Production panel and click on Preflight. In the Search field at the top right of the Preflight dialog box, search for outlines. This selects the Convert fonts to outlines fixup.
As I mentioned, though, most of the time it is unnecessary and even harmful. The idea that text should be converted into outline is old, older than InDesign itself, and, therefore, outdated.
Outlined text refers to a font that has been converted into a vectored format. Why should I outline my text? Vectored text can be scaled infinitely without any loss of image quality. That means your text will appear smooth and crisp at any size or resolution and will print clearly on your graphic.
To convert text to outlines, go Select Select All. It doesnt matter if other graphic elements are selected. Select Type Create Outlines from the menu. The text will become outlined and cant be edited as text (see the image below right).
Why do you need to outline your fonts? Before sending files to print, it is important to convert all fonts to outlines. Outlining fonts in your files will ensure that the fonts appearance is preserved when your files are sent to print as it converts the font into artwork.
When sending files to a commercial printer, they often request that you convert fonts to outlines first. This is so they can open your files without needing to load the proper fonts onto their system. It not only simplifies their workflow, but streamlines the file transfer process for everyone involved.
Select your text or WordArt. Click Home Text Effects. Click the effect you want. For more choices, point to Outline, Shadow, Reflection, or Glow, and then click the effect you want.
