Use Show Markup Select Review > Display for Review. Select the option you want: Simple Markup points out where changes are made with a red line in the margin. All Markup shows all edits with different colors of text and lines.
From the File tab, select Options. Click the Display tab. In the section Always show these formatting marks on the screen, un-check everything except Object Anchors. Press OK.
A caret shows where an additional or corrected or substituted letter, word, or phrase is to be inserted in or above the line. A horizontal line delete mark is made through a phrase, sentence, or paragraph.
Click and drag the cursor on the text that requires the mark, then click the drop-list in the Proofreading group on the ribbon. Click to select the mark on the list -- for example, “frag.” for “fragmented sentence.” A Comment dialog box opens; click “Insert” if the comment needs no changes.
