Open the Binary file binary1.bin in Notepad++ Edit - Select All (Ctrl+A) Plugins - MIME Tools - Base64 Encode. Edit - Select All (Ctrl+A) Edit - Copy (Ctrl+C) Edit - Undo (Ctrl+Z) Move focus to a new Notepad++ tab. Edit - Paste (Ctrl+v)
The binary copy is designed for reloading data into tables that have exactly the same record layout as those from which the data was unloaded. Those tables must be on a machine with the same architecture as that from which they were unloaded.
PNG images use a binary format because efficiency is important in creating small image files. However, PNG does binary formats right: it specifies byte orders and word lengths to avoid the NUXI problem. There are often business reasons to use binary formats.
Transferring Files in Binary or ASCII Mode Auto (or press CTRL+F1) - Auto is the default transfer type, and sends files in the mode specified for each files extension. ASCII (or press CTRL+F2) - files will be transferred in ASCII mode. Binary (or press CTRL+F3) - files will be transferred in Binary mode.
File extensions We can usually tell if a file is binary or text based on its file extension. This is because by convention the extension reflects the file format, and it is ultimately the file format that dictates whether the file data is binary or text.
Some binary files contain headers, blocks of metadata used by a computer program to interpret the data in the file. The header often contains a signature or magic number which can identify the format.
To write to a binary file Use the WriteAllBytes method, supplying the file path and name and the bytes to be written. This example appends the data array CustomerData to the file named CollectedData. dat .
Binary files can be used to store any data; for example, a JPEG image is a binary file designed to be read by a computer system. The data inside a binary file is stored as raw bytes, which is not human readable.
