As a standard font for legal documents, Times New Roman (along with Arial and Helvetica) is one of the most commonly used fonts.
A general warranty deed must include the following to be valid: The name and address of the seller (called the grantor) The name and address of the buyer (called the grantee) A legal description of the property (found on the previous deed) A statement that the grantor is transferring the property to the grantee.
Most common font for legal documents Times New Roman with font size 12 is the most standard font used for legal documents. Other fonts such as Arial and Helvetica are also used commonly as legal fonts.
Two witnesses to the signature. A South Carolina Probate or Acknowledgement. A property description to include a recorded plat reference or metes and bounds description. A derivation clause to include name(s), date and book and page of conveyance to the Grantor.
The Century family is the most favored style and 12 point type is almost mandatory. But not all documents are going to be submitted to the Supreme Court, so the best font for legal documents would be a professional style that is easy to read.
To record a document such as a deed, mortgage, water rights, lien or other you must: Bring the document in person to the Clerks Office or send by mail: Documents must be original (all required seals and signatures) Notary Information must be complete signature, date, seal, and expiration date is required.
Font size also matters for legal documents. Courts only require that the font is legible. Most courts and lawyers recommend using a 12-point font for legal documents. Thats large enough for anyone to be able to read and still small enough that you can fit plenty of information on a single page.
Times New Roman is permitted if the main text is at least 14-point, an indented quotation is at least 13-point, a footnote is at least 12-point, and the paper otherwise complies with (a).
Best Fonts for Legal Documents Arial. Baskerville. Bookman Old Style. Century and Century-related fonts.
