The Private Pilot, Instrument, and Commercial Pilot knowledge tests each require an endorsement from a certificated flight or ground instructor confirming that you are ready to take the test. ATPs flight instructors can give the endorsement based on practice tests from your test prep software.

Like most flight exam checkrides, the Private Pilot Practical Test is divided into two parts: an oral exam and a flight exam.

When an applicant makes an appointment with me for a checkride I specifically tell him or her that they must have those three endorsements in order to be eligible to take the test.
