XML supports information exchange between computer systems such as websites, databases, and third-party applications. Predefined rules make it easy to transmit data as XML files over any network because the recipient can use those rules to read the data accurately and efficiently.
Every XML document should have an encoding declaration as part of its XML declaration. The encoding declaration tells the parser in which character set the document is written. Its used only when other metadata from outside the file is not available.
XML is a file format that stores text information. The XML files created by your camera contain metadata about your video, such as camera settings, date/time, etc., in a separate container from the video streams.
Note: Deleting an XML map removes the XML map only and does not remove any data that the XML map is currently mapped to.
Viewing XML Files Most browsers will display an XML document with color-coded elements. Often a plus (+) or minus sign (-) to the left of the elements can be clicked to expand or collapse the element structure. To view raw XML source, try to select View Page Source or View Source from the browser menu.
It is a standard file format used to describe the functions available to a particular camera. The XML file resides in the camera and is downloaded to the Host when the camera is connected.
Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language that provides rules to define any data. Unlike other programming languages, XML cannot perform computing operations by itself. Instead, any programming language or software can be implemented for structured data management.
