so a lot of people copy files incorrectly or they might not understand what goes into a basic windows copy just to show you how most people do it right click copy come over here paste this is my network drive this is my local hard drive and we get this nice little graph so why not just do it this way like everyone else does it well theres a couple reasons the big one here is one its not as fast you know arguably so i think this is gonna take maybe a minute and its about five gigs i think maybe six gigs worth of data so not very much and its going at a decent clip however what happens if this was a thousand files well it has to read every one of those files before it will even start copying so thats a big downside the second thing is if theres a bunch of pass and it goes past the character limit this will fail itll itll really just skip those files because its not able to read those long paths and file names and then finally you run into some security and attribute copy proble
