Depending on the size of the volumes, it can take several minutes for the AMI-creation process to complete (sometimes up to 24 hours). You may find it more efficient to create snapshots of your volumes prior to creating your AMI.
Using the EC2 Console Open Amazon EC2 console, and select the region that contains the AMI you want to use. In the left-hand navigation, select AMIs under Images to display all AMIs in your selected region. For the AMI you want to copy, right click to show Actions, and then select Copy AMI.
Select Modify Image Permissions. Add the Destination Account: Log in to the Destination Account: Navigate to the Shared AMIs: Select the Shared AMI: Copy the AMI: Configure the Copy: Check the AMI Status: Launch Instances (Optional):
Resolution. If you know the account IDs of the AWS accounts that you want to share the AMI with, follow the instructions at Share an AMI with specific AWS accounts.
