but welcome to another MedCram lecture today we're gonna talk about something a little different in terms of treatment we could actually talk about DNR full code palliative care just a quick primer on those sorts of things especially in terms of what we do in the intensive care unit but also what we do on the floor so I think this is kind of a confusing topic for some people who are not used to it DNR stands for do not resuscitate and of course the do and the not are pretty clear but the resuscitate can sometimes be a little confusing so when someone says somebody is DNR that means they don't want to be resuscitated but what does that exactly mean and I have they fully given consent about what it is that they want to have done well the opposite of DNR is a term that we sometimes call full code and that comes from the fact that when somebody in their heart stops or they stop breathing they have something called a code blue and it's during that code blue that you can do all sorts of thi...

A DNR decision may be taken when there is a risk of the patient's breathing or heart stopping. If it is decided 'not to resuscitate', CPR will not be attempted. This is sometimes called a 'DNR order'. It is important to note that, even if a DNR order is made, this should not affect other treatment decisions.
A DNR (do not resuscitate) order is a request not to have CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) if your heart stops or if you stop breathing while you are in a medical facility. An out-of-hospital DNR is for people who do not want to be resuscitated if they have problems at home or anywhere outside of a medical facility.
A DNR order may be invalidated if the immediate cause of a respiratory or cardiac arrest is related to trauma or mechanical airway obstruction.
The main point is this: as a bystander, i.e. a non-medical professional, you cannot get into any legal trouble for giving CPR to a person with a DNR, and should always give CPR as soon as possible to all victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
How is a POST form different from an Out-of-Hospital DNR?  Both the POST and the Out-of-Hospital DNR involve the physician in the execution process, but the POST statute actually requires the doctor and patient (or representative) to discuss the patient's situation.
A DNR order may be invalidated if the immediate cause of a respiratory or cardiac arrest is related to trauma or mechanical airway obstruction.
Your Data Release Number (DRN) displays on your Student Aid Report (SAR), as well as on your confirmation page. The DRN allows you to contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center to make corrections to your mailing address or school list.
Document reference number (DRN) means the unique number on a bill of lading, Government Transportation Request (GTR), or transportation ticket used to track the movement of shipments and individuals.
