Use the Save As Mesh command to export a mesh body from a design in Fusion to a 3MF , OBJ , or STL file. In the Design workspace, right-click a component or body in the Browser. Select Save As Mesh. In the dialog, select the Format: Select the Unit Type: Select the Structure: Click OK.
Create a copy of a body In the Browser, expand the Bodies folder, then select the body to copy. Right-click the body, then select Copy. Right-click the Bodies folder in any internal component, then select Paste. A copy of the body displays in the canvas and in the Browser. Optional: Move or rotate the body. Click OK.
Paste New In the browser, right-click the component. Click Copy. Optional: Open the destination Fusion 360 design if you are copying the component to a different design. Right-click the parent component that you want to nest the copied component within. Click Paste New.
You can copy from multiple sketches you dont even need to be in a sketch to use the copy command. After you select the sketches or sketch entities you want, either right-click and select Copy or hold down CTRL + C on your keyboard.
Insert one design into another as an external component Open an existing design or save a new design. In the Data Panel, locate the design you want to insert. Right-click the design and select Insert into Current Design. Move the external component to the desired location: Click OK.
Fusion 360 components can be copied similarly to sketches and bodies. To copy, right-click on a Component in the Browser and select copy. You can also select the body in the Browser to use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL + C (Windows) or CMD + C (Mac).
Expand the Data Panel and navigate to the file. Right-click and select Move. A window will appear to provide a choice of destinations for the file. Select the destination and click Move.
How to insert a mesh body into Fusion 360 Select the mesh file from your computer to insert. Click Open. In the Insert Mesh dialogue, ensure that the import units match the units from the mesh source file. STL and OBJ files are unitless, which means that they use an absolute value on import.
