Autodesk recently posted a video on the modelling of a pencil sharpener. In this video, I want to draw your attention to the 25 minute mark where a press pull command was performed on the base in order to create a recess for the ring. This video is not meant to be a critique but rather an alternative to the method that was presented. In fact, I learnt a lot from that video and I would highly encourage all of you to watch it. I am going to do a quick run through of the method presented and then present my alternative. This is not going to be an exact replica but rather a simplified version of the model. Here, we have a cylinder split into 3 main bodies: top, middle and base. Lets hide the top since that would not be part of the discussion. The end result we are looking for is a ring based on the middle section which would then be assembled onto the base. In the original video, a shell operation was performed on the mid section. Next, a recess had to be created on the base in order for

A beat is a story point. Beats connect and move the story forward. They can be tentpoles (big important moments), but mainly they act like the connecting tissue for the script. Beats also dovetail into scene sequences. This scene plus this scene plus this scene equals the beat.
All you need is an internet connection. Open Final Draft and click the “Collaboration” button. Enter your name and select the script you'd like to share with your collaborators.

A script written in another screenwriting program or a regular word processing program can be exported as a text or RTF file, then imported into Final Draft. Final Draft will reformat the file as a feature screenplay. Exporting as text is the best choice, exporting as RTF is the second-best choice.
Can my writing partner and I share one copy of Final Draft? No. In the case of a standard or academic retail package, only one person can be listed as the owner of the software. Writing partners cannot co-own a copy of Final Draft any more than they can co-own an airline ticket.

The simplest way to find a scene beat, is to read through the scene and mark the sections where the action changes or where the dialogue direction (or meaning) changes. This is my version of the beats of this scene. Go though this scene yourself and see how many beats you come up with (you could have more - or less.)
How do I print out specific pages? On Windows, go to File > Print, check the Page radio button and type in the range of pages (i.e. 1-6, 8) that you want to print. You can also select particular pages instead of a range (i.e. 2,7,9). On Mac, go to File > Print and choose Final Draft from the center dropdown menu.
