Kennedy creates a new component and sketches a simple rectangle to demonstrate how sketch geometry copies. He discusses copying sketch geometry within the same sketch and notes the importance of making sense for the user.

Click Move Face (Mold Tools or Features toolbar) or Insert > Face > Move . You can also right-click a face and click Move Face, or select Move Face on the Direct Editing CommandManager tab.
Select a component and drag in the X, Y, or Z direction of the assembly. The coordinate system appears in the graphics area to help orient you. To select the axis you want to drag along, click near that axis before dragging. Select an entity, then select a component to drag along that entity.
Using the PropertyManager to Move a Component Click Move Component (Assembly toolbar) or Tools > Component > Move. The Move Component PropertyManager appears, and the pointer changes to . Select one or more components in the graphics area. Select a component and drag in any direction.
To copy a feature: Click Instant3D on the Features toolbar. In the FeatureManager design tree, select the feature to copy. Hold down Ctrl and drag the feature to a location on the same face or a different face.
In the FeatureManager design tree, Ctrl + select or Shift + select the components to copy. Ctrl + drag the selected components and drop them in the graphics area. New instances of the components are created.
Move Drawing Right-click the drawing name at the top of the FeatureManager design tree and select Move. Type a value in the X value or Y value box, and click Apply. All of the drawing entities move the specified distance in the X or Y direction. Click Close to exit the dialog box.
To move, copy, rotate, or mate a solid or surface body: Click Move/Copy Bodies (Features toolbar) or Insert > Features > Move/Copy. Specify parameters to move, copy, or rotate bodies. Apply mates between bodies.

In the SOLIDWORKS software, you can move sketch entities by selecting them and dragging. You can also stretch sketch entities by dragging. For example, select a line and drag an endpoint, or select a side or vertex of a rectangle and drag to stretch the rectangle.
To copy the feature to the part, hold CTRL , and select the Cut Feature in the FeatureManager Design Tree. While holding CTRL and the left mouse button, drag and drop the feature in the desired location.
