Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can create your very own fillable form using Microsoft Word. First off, what is a fillable form? You can have people go in and fill out a form, but they wont be able to edit the questions or the structure of the form. You can use things like check boxes, text fields, drop down lists, date pickers, to build your form. Once someones finished completing your form, they can e-mail it back, they could print it out, or you could even connect it to a database. Connecting to a database is outside of the scope of todays tutorial. Its kind of like an docHub PDF form, but its Microsofts version of it. Ive included sample files today if you want to follow along, otherwise lets jump on the PC and lets get started. To make a document un-editable, first, select all the text in the document by pressing Ctrl+A. Once all of the text is highlighted, click Restrict Editing in the Protect group on the Developer tab.
Select your form name in the Form Id field. In Response Id, select Response Id from the dynamic content list. Insert the Word Online step, Populate a Microsoft Word template. Your location, document library and file would direct you to where the file is located.
In Microsoft Forms on the Responses tab, select Open in Excel. Your form responses will open in an Excel workbook. From Excel, you can export or save your form responses as a PDF file.
As you are working with forms in Word, there may be times when you want to convert the responses to your form back to regular text.Converting Forms to Regular Documents Unprotect the form. Select the whole document either by pressing Ctrl+A or by choosing Select All from the Edit menu. Press Ctrl+Shift+F9.
