we need to take the number 1800 and insert a colon if its 8 10 we need to insert a colon here to do this with an excel formula were going to use the replace function the old text well there it is comma the starting number well i really want a colon in the third position so i put a three here comma and the trick for inserting rather than replacing is you say number of characters zero comma and the text were going to insert in double quotes is a colon control enter double click and send it down oops that colon really needed to be inserted in position two rather than position three so in the top cell instead of hard coding this in im gonna say hey count how many characters there are four and three down here and subtract one so this will give us three in this row and two in the second row ctrl enter double click and send it down and thats the formula now if you want to convert it to an actual time value any time or date text value can be converted back to a date or time with some mat
