The key difference between a General Contractor (GC) and a Construction Manager (CM) is that a GC will be a business entity, and a CM will be an individual.
This is the same as in CM at risk and the CM/GC is also selected on the basis of qualifications, past experience and best value. The difference between this and CM at risk is that there are separate contracts for all parties and the CM/GC can be selected when the design is no more than 30 percent complete.
Converting a contractor to an employee can protect the employer from penalties, provide a better experience for the employee, and make it simpler for both parties to collaborate.
Use the following steps to convert your contractor to an employee. Verify worker classification. First, you need to make sure that the contractor really should be an employee. Notify the worker. Gather employee information. Adjust payroll. Treat the employee equally. Distribute Form W-2.
That means the company first hires the candidate on a temp basis and then converts them to a direct hire via a contract conversion. This type of contract conversion is becoming more commonplace, and recruiters are benefiting financially from it.
What is construction management? Unlike general contractors, construction management services contract with the owner for a fixed fee. This fee replaces the lump sum a general contractor would charge to cover their overhead and profit.
