In this tutorial, Kevin explains how to convert a sheet of text into editable text in Microsoft Word using just the application itself. He begins by instructing viewers to take a picture of the text with their smartphone, which saves it as a JPEG. After that, he shows how to transfer the image to the computer, which he has already done. Kevin opens the image he took, illustrating the process with a humorous example related to political vouchers in Seattle. He emphasizes that the focus is on the conversion process, not on the content of the text itself.

Convert Files From Encoded Text Go to File - Options - Advanced and scroll down until the General section is docHubed. In the General section, check the box that says Confirm file format conversion on open. Exit Word, and reopen the corrupt document again.
Here is a list of possible solutions: Reduce your output resolution. Lower frame rate. Change the encoder preset. Try hardware encoding. Check the recording sources. Close additional programs in the background. Free disk space. Change process priorities.
If this issue only occurs in one document, perform the following: Open the Microsoft Office app and click File Open Browse. Select the document where garbled characters are displayed and select Open and Repair. If the characters are still displayed incorrectly, the document may be corrupted.
You can specify the encoding standard that you can use to display (decode) the text. Click the File tab. Click Options. Click Advanced. Scroll to the General section, and then select the Confirm file format conversion on open check box. Close and then reopen the file. In the Convert File dialog box, select Encoded Text.
Microsoft Word Click Save As, then choose Plain Text (. txt) from the File Format dropdown menu. After clicking Save youll get a new window asking about the text encoding. Select Other Encoding and choose UTF-8 from the right-side menu. Click OK. Boom! Thats it!
Choose Find from the Edit menu, or press Ctrl+F. In the Find What box, enter the text for which you want to search. To search for an ASCII character, enter a carat (^) followed by the three numbers representing the ASCII value of the character. For instance, to search for an uppercase A, you could enter ^065.
Inserting Unicode Characters Press ALT+X to convert the code to the symbol. If youre placing your Unicode character immediately after another character, select just the code before pressing ALT+X.
The status bar shows the word count for that selection and for the entire document. Tip: Find the number of characters, paragraphs, and lines by clicking on the word count in the status bar.
