To use Telex Release on a shipment, you need to do the following: Return the Original Bill of Lading (OBL): If the OBL has been printed, it must be returned to a Maersk office. Pay the cargo release fee: Pay the cargo release fee to allow for the Telex Release of your shipment. Use MyFinance for instant payments.
How does a Telex Release work? Pay the bill to a commercial provider. The provider informs the agent that the Bill of Lading has been released. The shipping line informs the agent that the merchandise can be withdrawn without the Bill of Lading. The consignee withdraws the merchandise without the original Bill of Lading.
A Telex Release can be defined as a message that is sent by an agent or shipping line from the origin to the office at the customs destination. It can also be sent from an agent to signify that the shipper has already surrendered the OBL (Original Bill of Lading) issued to them.
A bill of lading is a document of title, conferring title to the goods. In trade finance, there are two kinds of bills of lading: A straight bill of lading, if the goods are consigned directly to the buyer.
You can download a free Inland Bill of Lading template from our website in PDF format.
Sometimes, it can take 4-7 days. In addition, the consignee needs to sign and stamp these documents and courier them to their freight forwarder/NVOCC. This can take another 1-2 days.
Typically, there are three bills of lading, one for the shipper, one for the consignee, and one for the banker, but there is no limit to the number of bills of lading issued. Addition bills of lading increase the risk of fraud, theft, or the unauthorized release of goods.
Shippers can request a telex release from the carrier that issues their original bill of lading. A bill of lading is a legal document between the shipper of goods and the carrier (transporter) of those goods. It provides proof of ownership and details the type, quantity, and destination of the goods being carried.
