Today lets take a look at a common task you might have already come across, which is to combine multiple Excel files into one file. So for example, lets say you sent out a template to your colleagues to collect some data. You got them in separate files. Now you want to combine them. Basically, you want to consolidate or append the data in one single file. One solution has always been VBA, but this time were going to use a simpler approach. Were going to use Get Transform, also known as Power Query, from the data tab. (upbeat music) (air whooshing) (bubble popping) My aim is to combine the data from these files by directly connecting to the folder. Now, there are a few requirements. I dont want to include any files that dont have Data in it, and I also want to be sure to exclude any non-Excel files. Lets quickly take a look at the content of the files. I have cells information for a specific month. The data is not in an Excel table. The structure of the files, though, are ide

The snapshot consolidation process will generate IOPS on the underlying storage array. If the process is started while the virtual machine is powered on and if the virtual machine requires intensive I/O, performance degradation may be noticed.
The snapshot Consolidation searches for hierarchies or delta disks to combine without violating data dependency. After consolidation, redundant disks are removed, which improves virtual machine performance and saves storage space.
What Is VMware Disk Consolidation? Virtual disk consolidation is the process of merging virtual disk files created after taking VM snapshots. You can initiate disk consolidation on demand to avoid performance degradation and other issues.
The most common causes for the virtual machine consolidation needed status: Not enough disk space on the VMFS datastore to consolidate VM snapshots and consolidate virtual disk files. If there is less than 1 GB of free space on the datastore, this error may occur.
Snapshot consolidation is used to merge the snapshot delta disk files to the VM base disk. In vSphere 5, VMware introduced the Consolidation option, which is used when the associated disks are not committed back to the base disk after you revert or delete VMware snapshots.
Snapshots done with vSphere Client work normal (quick consolidation). Snapshots after a Veeam backup can take up to 40 minutes to consolidate.
Why VM snapshots are useful. The most obvious use for snapshots is creating a baseline system that you dont need to re-initialize from scratch every time you want to use it for something new. Take a snapshot of the baseline, do the work you need to do and, when youre done, you can simply discard the snapshot.
A solid starting point is to add 20-30% extra disk space for each snapshotbut you might want enough space for an entire second VM, or 100% of the original.
Snapshot consolidation is required when a snapshot is deleted but its associated disk is not committed back to the base disk. If consolidation is not completed, snapshot disks might grow and eventually fill the data store.
How do you fix VMware ESXi disk consolidation issue? Solution 1. Consolidate the virtual disk. Since the system has clearly demanded the operation of consolidation, you just need to perform it. Solution 2. Delete snapshots in Snapshot Manager. Solution 3. Consolidate snapshot with PowerCLI.
